Dr. Sharla Marek is our Director of Exceptional Student Services and Psychological Services for CCA and DHPH. This is her sixth year with our schools and she continues to be thrilled with all of the opportunities made available to our students.
Dr. Marek received a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Houston in 2002. She completed an internship in a public school setting, which trained and allowed her to obtain dual licensure in psychology and school psychology. Post doctoral work has been in a public school setting, while at times also conducting private practice. Witnessing the closing of the achievement gap in her students who received help in emotional and social arenas solidified Dr. Marek’s commitment to continue to work in a school setting, thereby assisting in creating educational excellence at all levels.
Dr. Marek and her family moved to the Pueblo area in 2005, and joined the CCA/DHPH teams in 2006. CCA and DHPH have a mission that is close to her heart, and as she hears students, parents and staff chanting at rallies she is reminded of her conviction that all students can achieve… Si Se Puede!
